Here are 21 of their favorite items, as well as the characteristics that distinguish them from the competition.

Vastra Travel Towel

It may be used to remain dry during a hot yoga session, to towel off after a shower, or to wear as a beautiful scarf outside of the studio setting. The organic cotton is hand-loomed and quick-drying, and the colors are derived from Ayurvedic herbs and plants, such as Vetiver, Indigo, and Acacia Catechu, among others. ($25,vastra.us)

Hugger Mugger Eco Bamboo Yoga Towel

With a high absorbency and non-slip surface thanks to its latex-free, sustainable bamboo fiber construction, this towel is an excellent supplement to your hot yoga practice. It may be used on its own or over a yoga mat because it is lightweight and will not bunch up no matter how rigorous your sequence of poses becomes. ($40;huggermugger.com)

New Balance Anue KamaRacerback Tank

With a high absorbency and non-slip surface thanks to its latex-free and renewable bamboo fiber construction, this towel is a great addition to your hot yoga practice. It may be used on its own or over a yoga mat because it is lightweight and will not bunch up no matter how rigorous your sequence of postures is! ($40;huggermugger.com)

Soybu Alecia Tank

This tank will provide you with the necessary support—as well as the necessary style—to go through a strenuous series of postures. Furthermore, because its one-of-a-kind “RE-FLEX” fabric is created from recycled plastic, each Alecia Tank helps to divert around 12 soda and water bottles from the garbage. ($46;soybu.com)

Satva Ayanna Legging

After class, you don’t have time to change your clothes. With a rollover waistband and ankle-tie detailing, these comfy slim leggings make a fashionable statement while doing good. One instructor remarked on the “exceptionally soft cotton” that is certified organic and grown in rural India, which she described as “very soft.” To help local farmers, the firm reinvests a percentage of its profits back into the areas where it operates. ($59,satvaliving.com)

Onzie Copa Cabana Capri

These stylish capris are decorated with a vibrant, playful design that was produced in an ecologically friendly manner, making them an excellent choice for summer. Known as “sublimation printing,” this direct-to-textile approach removes all of the harmful chemicals (such as flame retardants and formaldehyde) that are used in traditional screen-printing.

It is also environmentally friendly. ($56;onzie.com) Also see YJ Editor’s Picks: Top Yoga Pants of 2014 for more information.

Teeki Purple Hazed Sun Shorts

During a heated yoga session, comfort is essential, and these shorts provide that. The “high-low waistband choice” and the four-way stretch, which “allows for a great deal of mobility throughout a session,” were particularly popular with testers. Fabric made from recycled polyester (with a touch of body-hugging Spandex) helps to control perspiration, reduce chafing, and ward off infection, while still looking good. ($46,teeki.com) See also: Yoga Gear to Keep You Cool in Hot Conditions.

Lole Navasana Shorts

These sassy, shapely tiny shorts are perfect for a steamy, hot yoga practice, and they look great with everything. The four-way stretch ensures that they are comfortable in any position while also preventing them from riding up as you progress through the series. Designed with an organic cotton, Tencel, and elastane combination, they’re comfortable and stylish. ($50;lolewomen.com)

Inner Waves OrganicsMohala Camisole

To further enhance Inner Waves’ environmental credentials, the firm gathers and repurposes any fibers that fall on the fabric mill’s walls and ceiling during weaving, as well as recycling the dye water used in the production of its camisoles. A tester also noted that the “soft cotton fabric felt comforting during a restorative practice, and cooling during a rapid heated session,” among other benefits. ($56,innerwaves.org)

Carolina Morning DesignsBuckwheat Yoga Block

This block, which was manufactured in the mountains of North Carolina and is filled with domestically cultivated buckwheat, has a low carbon footprint due to its manufacturing location. Yogis have confirmed that it is sturdy enough for supported Fish Pose while still having enough give to be used as a pleasant sitting cushion or between-thigh prop when needed. Yin Yoga and restorative yoga practitioners will like the fact that they may “lay my forehead on it in forward folds without pain,” according to one tester.

($28,zafu.net)

Barefoot Yoga Indian Rosewood Yoga Block

Using Indian Rosewood, a sustainable hardwood also known as the Shisham Tree, this block is lightweight, robust, and long-lasting. In India, these fast-growing trees are the most widely grown timber trees, valued for their naturally dark wood with attractively contrasted layers of lighter, fresh growth that provide a striking visual contrast. ($26;barefootyoga.com)

Yoloha Cork Yoga Mat

Testers reported that this mat did not require any airing out before use, allowing you to begin practicing immediately on its sustainably sourced cork surface, which is supported by rubber manufactured from recycled tires. The material is naturally antibacterial, which means it has no germs or leftover body odor. It also contains a plant-based waxy ingredient called suberin, which only becomes more grippier when wet (perfect for hot yoga or SUP yoga). ($119,yolohayoga.com)

Yogasana Yoga Mat

A master weaver in the historic Indian city of Benares creates each of these handwoven cotton mats entirely by hand (and signs his or her name on the back of each). It is true that everything is done by hand, from the cotton harvesting to the natural dyeing to the weaving on a manual loom to the finishing touches.

In addition, a portion of the earnings from each sale is used to provide school supplies for the children of individuals who work there. ($95;yogasanamats.com) See also5 Yoga Mats Recommended by Yoga Teachers.

Wai Lana Green OrganicCotton Yoga Tote

This yoga-mat tote, which is made of organic cotton coloured with natural dyes and adorned with embroidered motifs, is “light and spacious enough to effortlessly slip the mat in and out of the bag without being too roomy,” according to an instructor tester. ($25,wailana.com)

The Bee Yoga Mat Bag

Each of these bags is one-of-a-kind due to the fact that they are fashioned from repurposed fabrics. Upholstery samples, as well as fabrics from cargo and capri trousers, are repurposed by the firm, which results in bags that are as beautiful as they are utilitarian (sturdy shoulder strap, loop for your keys, and pockets to stash your ID and other small essentials). ($37;bringonthebee.com)

Love My Mat MeditationCushion

Beautiful repurposed fabrics, such as floral designs, paisley, and other bright, vibrant patterns, are used to create the “sitting-pretty pillows,” which are perfect for any room in the house. They are packed with buckwheat hulls from a local provider, and they come in minimal to no packaging, which helps to decrease landfill waste and pollution. ($68,lovemymat.com)

Carolina Morning Designs Smile Cushion

The cushion’s cover is made entirely of organic cotton, while the cushion’s filling is made entirely of buckwheat hulls. ($46;zafu.net)

Moving Comfort Urban X-Over Sports Bra

According to the testers, the adjustable, crisscrossing straps and moulded cups give “excellent support throughout a strenuous exercise.” But it is the following feature that actually distinguishes this bra: A proprietary substance derived from recycled coffee grounds, known as “DriLayer Buzz,” is used to fill the cups, which helps to regulate moisture and eliminate odors. ($44,movingcomfort.com)

4-rth Long Cuffed Perfection Yoga Pants

“Great support throughout a strenuous practice,” according to the testers, thanks to the adjustable, crisscrossed straps and moulded cups. This bra, however, is distinguished by the following features: They are packed with “DriLayer Buzz,” a proprietary substance created from recycled coffee grounds that helps to regulate moisture while also preventing odors from developing. ($44,movingcomfort.com)

Prana Sutra Pant

These trousers, which have a relaxed fit, slouchy front pockets, and a drawstring waist, may easily become your go-tos for practicing, relaxing, and going out and about town. They are constructed from a super-soft, ecologically friendly fabric that is a combination of hemp and recycled PET (produced from plastic bottles), with just enough Lycra to keep them from sagging too much. ($70;prana.com)

Gaiam Sol Dry-Grip Yoga Mat

“This mat has good grip, both dry and sweaty,” noted one teacher, praising the stay-dry topcoat’s ability to drain away moisture and keep the mat dry. It is also free of the most toxic phthalates, which are chemicals that are used to make plastic flexible but have been linked to a variety of health problems in humans.

The mat’s closed-cell rubber construction prevents germs, odors, and bacteria from establishing a home on the surface. ($70,gaiam.com) See also: Eco-Friendly Yoga Mats for more information.

Jade Harmony Professional Yoga Mat

This natural-rubber mat provides excellent cushioning and traction, plus it is created in the United States with no synthetic rubber or possibly dangerous PVCs. It is also non-toxic. Purusha People OrganicMermaid II Leggings

These organic-cotton leggings, which are incredibly soft, comfortable, and breathable, “hold up beautifully,” according to one yoga instructor, even during a heated yoga practice. In the United States, they’re created with low-impact fiber-reactive dyes—that is, dyes that attach to fibers in a way that lowers wastewater throughout the manufacturing process—and nontoxic water-based ink for the screen printing. ($98,purushapeople.com)

Hyde Wren Legging

These pants were created in collaboration with (and named after) Ame Wren, the founder of the Boston Yoga School, to provide the best possible comfort and functionality. But even more important than how well they fit is how well they help: Farm Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting farm animals from inhumane treatment, receives 10% of the earnings. ($75;yogahyde.com)

Love My Mat Bolster

As one tester put it, the “right amount of fullness” and “beautiful” design of these bolsters were created by the mother-daughter pair behind this firm, which reclaims previously owned curtains, tablecloths, and other items and transforms them into distinctive bolsters. It is important to Love My Mat that the cotton used for the filling be acquired from a local provider in order to reduce transportation distances and the company’s carbon footprint. ($88,lovemymat.com)

Carolina Morning Designs Organic Yoga Bolster

The detachable and machine-washable cover of this bolster is made entirely of organic cotton muslin, and the filler is made entirely of organic, dust-mite-resistant kapok (a natural fiber harvested from the seed pods of the kapok tree). Yoga asanas such as stretching and resting pose benefit from the combination since it provides solid yet gentle support. ($64;zafu.net)

Choose from a traditional white option or one of three vibrant color combinations. ($38,beckonsyogaclothing.com)

Threads for Thought Half Lotus Crop

Several reviewers praised the capris for their comfortable fit and feel, which was attributed to the broad waistband that provides support without being restrictive and the seamless construction that allows for smooth transitions between postures. Apart from that, the polyester fiber is created from recycled water bottles and has been brushed on both sides for an exceptionally delicate touch. ($52,threadsforthought.com)

Prana Freya Knicker

Comfort and style are two things that you should look for in your yoga pants. Additionally, they are produced from an environmentally beneficial combination of organic cotton and hemp to achieve both of these objectives (with just a touch of Spandex for a perfect fit). ($65;prana.com)

Farm2Fashion Lotus FlowerOm Throw

As part of the Karma Mama blanket line, this recycled-yarn throw is embossed with a lotus blossom and the sacred Om sign. It is made in the United States of America. Instead of serving as a prop to alter postures, this soft blanket is “excellent for covering pupils to make them feel secure, and for keeping them warm during Savasana and restorative positions,” according to one yoga instructor. ($140,Farm2Fashion.net)

Hugger Mugger Recycled Plaid Blanket

With this extra-thick blanket, you may get comfortable support for Shoulderstand and other restorative yoga positions. ($88;alternativeapparel.com)

Lolë Savasana 2 Tank Top

According to testers, this flowy tank drapes flatteringly without adhering, making it an excellent choice for Yin Yoga or unheated vinyasa. The moisture-wicking jersey (which is a blend of polyester and Lycra) is created in part from plastic bottles that have been recycled. ($50,lolewomen.com)

Threads for Thought Blossom Yoga Top

There’s nothing preventing you from wearing this tank right from class to a cup of coffee afterward (or tea or a green smoothie). More Than 500 5-Star Reviews

I really like how it feels! Currently, I’m using the Align yoga mat, which is really sticky. However, I was hoping to obtain another one from Kosha (greed, ofcourse). I got the black bloom mat, and I just adore the way it looks. It has a good amount of grip, although it takes some getting used to. Yes, it’s ideal for backbends because it allows you to raise into a chakrasana without making the pose too slippery to pull out of afterwards. I’ve been using it ever since and haven’t switched back to my Align mat for the time being.

  • I’m not sure if you guys bless your mats before sending them, but owing to both of your mats, I’ve been able to achieve headstand and eka pada chakrasana, which were previously unattainable for me.
  • Thank you, Kosha and the rest of the crew!
  • Yoga Mat from Sanctuary Pure Couture Kosha’s PUre Couture Mat is simply gorgeous, and I couldn’t be happier with it.
  • After being transported from Mumbai to Norway, the mat was in my possession in less than 4 working days.
  • The PUre Couture Mats come highly recommended.
  • Headstands and other inversions are made easier with the 5.5 mm thickness, which is ideal for my delicate knees and for headstands and other inversions.
  • Best I’ve been practicing yoga for two years and have purchased a plethora of mats, but I’ve never found a mat that has a strong grip, especially when practicing the ashtanga primary series, where sweat makes it difficult to maintain a firm grip on the mat and my hands tend to slip.

I was sweating like a pig and my hands were sweating like crazy, yet I had a really firm grasp on the mat and was able to perform all of the asanas properly.

It’s well worth the money you put into it; I only wish I had discovered it sooner rather than later after wasting my money on all those fraudulent mats.

My favorite of all of the great qualities of the Buttr trousers is, first and foremost, the goal behind reusing fishing nets for a more sustainable way of life.

I really like it.

Everything about it is perfect.

It’s not going anywhere.

It was purchased for my mother-in-law, and the alignment markings have proven to be really useful.

Steal.

Their designs were so distinctive that it was difficult for me to choose just one.:p They provide a lot of informative information on their website, and they respond really quickly to WhatsApp messages.

I had my heart set on the 5.5mm mat, but it was sold out (which makes sense now!) I then did a lot of research online and discovered that 4mm is sufficient for most people (those who do not have knee or joint difficulties), so I went ahead and got the stunning blue leaf mat in 4.5mm instead.

It also helps to know that I made a decision that is environmentally friendly.

It’s almost like practicing on a cloud:) Fantastic!

Second, I adored that the paper tag included basil seeds that could be planted in a pot (which I dutifully did!).

My yoga practice has become significantly more enjoyable and pleasant.

The most effective yoga mat currently available in India I’ve been doing yoga for three years, and this is my third yoga mat in that time.

I used to slide on my TPE mat, but now I can sweat all I want on this mat and it will not get wet!

If you are a serious practitioner, this is an investment that is well worth your time and money.

When it comes to non-slip material, this is a godsend for someone like myself who suffers from sweaty hands and palms.

Shelter that is strong!

The durability of the mat allowed me to have stress-free training sessions without having to worry about losing my balance because the mat moved or falling off while performing an asana or stretching.

Yoga Pants with a Beautifully Flattering Fit My new ButtR Yoga Pants in salmon pink have been on my hips and in my practice for about a month now, and I have to say that I really like them!

Additionally, reusing the ocean nets is a huge bonus.

The combination of innovative and intelligent solutions without sacrificing on the overall appearance.

When I practice, it doesn’t roll back as much as it used to.

It stretches nicely while remaining opaque, which is something I consider to be really crucial when selecting costumes for group lessons;) Last but not least, there’s the physical appearance.

I would highly suggest it.

The finest of the best!

I appreciate that they are useful, vibrant, and that they perform well in my profession.

This has been a wonderful discovery, and I want to express my gratitude to Kosha Yoga for always pushing the edge while sticking to environmentally friendly standards.

I was particularly taken with how comfy, lightweight, and attractive they were.

The moss green ones are currently in my possession, and I have just placed an order for the salmon pink and ocean blue colors.

It’s as smooth as butter!

While practicing, it is lightweight, fits properly, and does not slip down my waistline.

As a result, you’re not only helping the environment and moving towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle, but you’re also benefiting yourself. As an added bonus, the leggings are so light that I don’t even notice that I’m wearing anything!

11 Ethical Brands Producing Organic Activewear, Yoga Wear and Athleisure Clothing

An epiphany occurred to me when a reader recently left a remark expressing her frustration with the difficulty she was having locating organic activewear and sportswear manufactured from chemical-free natural fibers. This isn’t the first time a reader has brought this to our attention; why, then, haven’t we put up a list like this before? Some people may not want to wear clothes made of synthetic textiles for a variety of reasons, including health concerns, comfort concerns, environmental concerns, or just personal preferences.

  • Wearing organic natural fibers is both better for the skin and more environmentally friendly because they are cultivated without the use of hazardous pesticides, fertilizers, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  • Since then, I’ve searched high and low for sportswear businesses that exclusively produce collections made entirely of 100 percent organic natural fibers, such as 100 percent organic cotton.
  • My study has revealed that the fibers used in the clothes must be combined with elastane and Spandex in order to provide high-performance, durability, and elasticity to the garments.
  • With that said, we consider anything that is near to 100 percent natural and organic to be satisfactory.
  • As a result, without further ado, the following are the brands, listed in no particular order:

1. Organic Basics

We adore them for the following reasons: With lust-worthy, minimalist, and budget-friendly undergarments and necessities that are 100 percent certified organic and ethically created, as well as its varied casting of models, this sustainable business has established a name for itself. The Organic Basicsactivewear collection is created from recycled fabrics, but the business also offers a fantastic selection of organic shirts for men and women that are suited for fitness-related endeavors. Who it’s best for: The fashion-conscious minimalist who does what they preach.

Shipping: International shipping is available.

2.Groceries Apparel

We adore them for the following reasons: In their own factory in Los Angeles, California, Groceries Apparel is a sustainable fashion business that responsibly makes contemporary collections in a sustainable manner. Organic cotton, hemp, and recycled materials are among the sustainable fabrics used by the firm, which is 100 percent GMO-free and fair-trade.
