(Image courtesy of zennomad.ca) When it comes to clothing, there’s no denying that Canadians are big fans of athleisure. An organization that does market research Although Canadian garment sales declined somewhat in 2017, activewear brands continued to thrive, according to the NPD Group. These brands generated $6.2 billion in sales in 2017, accounting for 23 percent of the entire apparel and essentials business. At the same time, consumers are becoming more conscientious about their purchases.

  1. In light of these developments, we’ve compiled a list of five yoga businesses that promote environmentally friendly practices without compromising style.
  2. Currently, a little amount of spandex is used for stretch, but the brand’s inventor, Amelia Barnes, says she is seeking to obtain a new fiber, Sorona, that will allow the leggings to be completely biodegradable.

5 consumer profiles impacting Activewear Trends in 2022/23

SummaryWith customers throughout the world experiencing lockdown, many are fearful of venturing outside. As a result, indoor activities will be extremely crucial for the development of athletic products. Due to the elimination of organized sports activities in 2021, parents and children are resorting to their own backyards for ways to be active and occupied in their spare time. Beginning with the recent several seasons, the distinction between the activewear and athleisure markets has been observed to be winning the different consumer profiles.

The activewear market in 2020 and 2021 will be driven by the fulfillment of technical and digital lifestyles, as well as the development of environmentally friendly fashion.

  1. In addition, the use of outdoor locations or inside alternatives will be promoted. Open-air activities, particularly the therapeutic effects of being outside on one’s mental well-being, continue to be helpful. The sale of outdoor sports equipment and toys will soar. A number of categories witnessed significant dollar growth during April, including playground equipment (+81 percent), skateboards/skateboards/scooters (+107 percent), ride-ons (+78 percent), water/sand toy accessories (+47 percent), pools (+161 percent), and sports activities games (+25 percent). A germ and virus-free work environment will necessitate a safe outdoor work environment. For the food and restaurant sector, survival is critical to the survival of their business
  2. City people are looking for an Outdoor Oasis to support their emotional and physical well-being in order to survive. Despite the health risks connected with big gatherings, consumers continue to crave socialization and personal connection

Brands must target the proper customers in order to increase brand loyalty. For this reason, we have picked a small number of consumers to profile those who will be at the forefront of the market. Running the USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to long-distance running and racing in the United States, reported in an in-depth study conducted in early 2017 that the number of road race finishers had decreased for the third year in a row. Changing exercise habits, Millennials’ choice for non-competitive fitness pursuits, and what the future may hold for running events were all discussed in a 2016 story published by The Wall Street Journal.

  • The majority of these new businesses are formed as a result of their creators’ desire for a different running-apparel look or their ongoing hunt for high-quality athletic clothing.
  • The fact that most major-brand sports apparel has a distinct look — generally brightly colored with prominent logos — that does not appeal to a significant segment of the running community is another factor.
  • Bailey is an ultra runner and a former CEO of One Distribution Company.
  • According to the GQ website, during the last five years, at least a dozen new businesses have hit the market with origin tales that are identical to the one described above.

Similar to the craft beer trend, these independent manufacturers are taking use of the convenience of online buying and the simplicity of social media marketing to create high-quality clothes for runners who are looking for garments that meet both their demands and their distinctive flair.

Indoor Generation: Consumers prefer home gym

Because to technological advancements, we now live in an era of food-delivery apps, online shopping, binge-watching on-demand television series, and the ability to work from home. Is it any wonder that some individuals report feeling lethargic, sad, and even permanently ill in this age of ease and technological connectivity? According to our study, more than 68 percent of customers stated that they would like to use a home gym system rather than going to a gym facility to exercise. According to a recent survey, more than 90 percent of people in the United States live at home; thus, the decrease in physical activity and increase in homey comfort would increase the demand for soft sports style and fluid materials even more.

Currently, 84 million Europeans live in buildings that are so wet and moldy that they pose a threat to their health and emotional well-being.

Poor indoor air quality may cause a wide range of ailments, from headaches and sore eyes to allergies and asthma – and even more serious conditions – when it occurs.

When people live in a moist and moldy environment, they are 40 percent more likely to develop asthma symptoms. It is necessary for brands to focus on indoor activewear, where materials might offer the opportunity of allowing fresh air in, as well as breathable and wet drying technology.
