What to Pack in Your Gym Bag? — Yoga by Paige

Some of you may be preparing to return to the office after several months away from the office due to family obligations. Preceding the Great 2020 Lockdown, I exercised out virtually every morning before work, which included a 45-minute travel each way to and from the workplace. It required some thought and effort to sort out the practicalities, but the result was well worth it on a daily basis. I wanted to feel good about myself in all parts of my life, and I knew that moving my body was the basis for success.

  1. So what I’m going to talk about today is what you should be bringing in your gym bag if you want to restart your journey to work each morning.
  2. Before you pack your gym bag, make sure you know everything your gym has to offer.
  3. Is it necessary for you to bring your own towels?
  4. Knowing these things before you go for your trip will make your life a whole lot simpler.

Gym Bag

The following are things to consider when selecting a gym bag: you’ll want something that can hold your shoes, wet/sweaty clothing, a make-up bag, and most likely a laptop computer. Solid bags will have plenty of pockets for organizing and will most likely be more functional in style than they will be attractive in style. If you know you’ll be schlepping 20 minutes in any direction, I strongly advise using a two strap backpack rather than a one-sided shoulder bag because the latter may get really heavy and dig into your shoulders when carried one-sided.

Change of Clothes

What I prefer to do in the mornings is to get out of bed and immediately put on my workout clothes, as well as having my gym bag already packed with the clothing that I want to wear to work. Making a small amount of preparation the night before makes getting out the door much more manageable. Precautionary measure: choose clothing with little creasing and double-check with your gym to see whether they supply hangers in the lockers.

Undergarments

If at all feasible, have a pair or two of heels at your desk that are neutral and can be worn with a variety of outfits. Shoes may be quite bulky, taking up crucial storage space in your backpack. Additionally, in your gym bag, you’ll probably want some form of compartment that keeps your gym shoes distinct from the rest of your possessions so that they have a chance to air out after your sweat session.

When it comes to gym shoes, I like a cross trainer so that I can keep up with whatever training is on the schedule for the day. These ones stand up exceptionally well to a wide range of sports; nevertheless, I do not suggest them for intensive jogging.

Toiletries

I’d want to begin by stating that I have taken a yoga mat on every single one of my vacations for the past 15 years and have used it on every single one of them. There’s no doubt about that. Even more surprisingly, I can’t quite believe that it has taken me this long to create a blog post explaining how and why I do what I do, as well as my recommendations on the best types of yoga mats for travel and my top 5 recommended ones! How to Carry a Yoga Mat When Travelling

So, now that we’ve established why you should travel with a yoga mat (!) and I’ve hopefully persuaded you that it’s a good idea, it’s time to speak about how to transport your yoga mat while you’re on the road or at the airport. If you’re going to be backpacking throughout the world for an extended period of time, as I frequently do, I recommend looking for a backpack that has straps on the exterior that are typically made to hold walking poles or a tent. Typically, these elastic or compressible straps are used to carry items vertically along the height of your bag, from the top to the bottom.

  • When your yoga mat is on the outside of your bag, it might be tough to keep it clean, especially when you’re traveling.
  • In this scenario, I strongly recommend that you get a yoga mat bag or case to keep your mat safe on the exterior of your backpack.
