It’s around 10 hours long and is available on DVD through Bodywisdom Media (877 746-8077). For those who are unfamiliar with Pilates mat practice, the method focuses on strengthening the abdominal area, which is referred to as the “powerhouse,” and is considered to be the foundation of the body’s support and mobility. Exercises to strengthen the belly and hip flexors are included in this video from Bodywisdom Media.

The fundamental building blocks are around five dozen “modules,” which range in duration from 30 seconds to a few minutes and each of them demonstrates a distinct sort of physical activity.

The routines are divided into five major categories that progress in difficulty: Basics, Beginning, Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Challenging.

This is a very well-executed and visually appealing demonstration.

Her lesson is easy, yet she demonstrates a strong understanding of optimal body alignment and safe execution during her demonstration.

According to the model’s professional performance, however, there is no doubt that the Pilates method fulfills its promise of developing core strength and flexibility in a safe and effective manner.

It is one of the most comprehensive Pilates practice companions I’ve seen, and it is well worth your time.

verified purchaseReviewed in the United States on March 24, 2011Verified Purchase The reason I chose this specific DVD was because it appeared (based on the description) that there were a variety of choices. The vast majority of people will eventually reach the advanced level (on any DVD or recording). At the very least, I hope so. You begin as a complete beginner and work your way up. It would be beneficial to have additional options available at the higher level of play. This DVD contains just one long advanced routine (which is 42 minutes in length, which isn’t nearly as long as I would have liked), and only the longest of them is worthwhile to watch.

They do the “swan dive” maneuver again and again.

Another issue is that, as others have stated, most of the exercises are completed in such a short period of time that it is difficult to imagine that anything positive may come from them.

However, the second-shortest “advanced” routine is really underwhelming, whereas the longest one at least provides a variety of activities (for example, there is no boomerang on the second-shortest routine, nor do they execute the teaser with a circle on the second-shortest routine) (equipment).

  • They utilize handheld weights and a circle to complete the most difficult advanced routine.
  • Why not inform viewers that they will require special equipment?
  • EDIT: I’ve located it!
  • The product was reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2018 and was verified to be a purchase.
  • Because her pronunciation of several terms struck me as a little unusual and slightly unpleasant, I wasn’t overly fond of the instructor.
  • The document was reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2006.
  • I had misplaced my first one (Pilates for Dummies, which was a very wonderful movie), so I purchased this one the next time around.

The book “Pilates, body in action” by Alycea Ungaro was the book that truly got me into Pilates and kept me there.

I was at an intermediate level at the time.

I had hoped that seeing a DVD would assist with the tempo.

It was a really interesting read.

In the classes, the instructor explains the maneuver while a model does it on the spot.

There is no explanation for the workouts.

I only started with the intermediate classes, so I’m not sure whether the beginner lessons are the same way, but the intermediate lessons run through the entire sequence of movements with very little rest in between excercises, which I found to be really frustrating.

This video does not include any of those elements.

It was a negative experience for me.

It did, however, motivate me to go more rapidly through my daily chores.

This video, as well as others, show even complete beginners performing movements that are, in my opinion, far too advanced.

3)While keeping up with the speed is a commendable goal, it is actually rather difficult.

As a result, you may need to start out slowly and gradually increase your pace as your skill level grows.

In the United States, on February 1, 2010, a verified purchase was reviewed.

The beginner and intermediate levels are absolutely non-challenging and more similar to yoga in that they place a greater emphasis on stretching.

At least for me, it is too low an intensity for weight reduction to be effective.

In addition, weights are required for half of the workouts, which is difficult to determine from the description.

On September 18, 2009, a review was conducted in the United States.

Because of the positive ratings, I decided to give this DVD a try.

Her tone of speaking was a little irritating to me.

She did not provide any other approaches for the moves if you are new to them or are not as limber as she is.

I’m only disappointed because I had hoped to participate in pilates.

I just need to find another DVD that I enjoy watching to get me to enjoy it! Someone kindly let me know if they know of a DVD that is a little more positive (and I’m not talking about the Richard Simmons kind of positive!) and offers alternatives to the prevailing viewpoints.

  • Because her pronunciation of several terms struck me as a little unusual and slightly unpleasant, I wasn’t overly fond of the instructor.
  • On March 9, 2006, the United States Supreme Court ruled that Purchase that has been verified This is the second Pilates video I’ve purchased.
  • For a time, I tried to do Pilates to my first video, but eventually gave up on it.

It was after approximately three months of constant use of the book that I felt I needed a DVD to just double-check that I was performing the motions correctly.

In addition, while I am working out on my own, I notice that my pace begins to slow after the first fifteen minutes.

So now we come to the part when I use the DVD for the first time.

To begin, the dvd is separated into two sections: instruction and workouts.

Each move is demonstrated three to four times, after which the following move is taught.

The teacher labels the move and has the students do it for the prescribed number of repetitions before moving on to the next move.

“Make sure you keep your powerhouse tight,” or “maintain your legs straight,” is something I’m used to hearing from a video as I’m doing the exercises.

Depending on how you prefer your exercise, this might be a positive or a disadvantage.

This DVD satisfied me since it demonstrated each Pilates technique, allowing me to double-check my understanding of what I had learnt from a book.

Though it received four stars from me, I did so for the following reasons: Despite the fact that there is no “one and only” pilates technique, I like Ungaro’s book since her appraisal of intermediate, beginning, and advanced exercises were reasonable.

There is no verbal feedback for perfect alignment while you are working out, which is frustrating.

Each and every Pilates action must be executed perfectly each and every time.

If you try to keep up with this video, you may find that your form suffers as a result.

Purchase that has been verified In general, I thought the movie was of high quality, however I thought the “weight loss” aspect of the title was a little deceptive.

It is kind of a waste of time for someone who is truly interested in losing weight.

This would be ideal if you wanted to slowly unwind and stretch after a stressful day.

Pilates is something I truly like doing, but this video, to be honest, was a little tedious.

Purchase that has been verified I’ve been doing yoga for almost a year now, and I’ve been wanting to give pilates a try as well.

We only wish we had been able to see them first!

The slow and controlled motions of yoga are familiar to me, but she was far too sluggish and dull for my taste.

As she had you sitting up and laying down, sitting up and lying down, the actions did not flow from one to the next.

I just need to find another DVD that I enjoy watching to get me to enjoy it! Someone kindly let me know if they know of a DVD that is a little more positive (and I’m not talking about the Richard Simmons kind of positive!) and offers alternatives to the prevailing viewpoints.

Videofitness Workout Reviews: Pilates Complete for Everyone

On the 24th of March in the United States, he was arrested. A purchase that has been confirmed This specific DVD was chosen because, based on the description, it appeared to offer a variety of viewing choices. The vast majority of persons will get to the advanced level of proficiency (on any DVD or recording). So I’m hoping it’s true. You start off as a beginner and work your way up the learning curve. For the higher level, it would make logical to have more options available. One long advanced routine (it is 42 minutes long, which isn’t quite as long as I would have liked) and only the longest one is nice are included on this DVD.

  1. The “swan dive” maneuver is repeated by them again.
  2. The fact that most of the exercises are done for such a short period of time makes it difficult to think that anything positive may result from them is yet another point of contention.
  3. It’s a viable approach for me.
  4. Moreover, there’s another point to consider: They employ handheld weights and a circle for the most difficult advanced workout.
  5. Why not inform viewers that special equipment would be required?
  6. REVISION: I’ve located the answer!
  7. United States of America, on the 7th of February, 2018, a lawsuit was filed.

Because her pronunciation of several terms struck me as a little weird and irritating, I wasn’t overly fond of the teacher.

He was formally charged on March 9, 2006, in the United States A purchase that has been confirmed My second Pilates video is available on this site!

Initially, I attempted Pilates to my first video, but eventually gave up.

It was after approximately three months of constant use of the book that I decided I needed a DVD to just double-check that I was performing the motions correctly.

Aside from that, when I work out on my own, I notice that my pace starts to decrease after the first fifteen minutes or so.

As a result, this is the first time I’ve really watched a DVD.

First and foremost, the dvd is separated into two sections: teachings and exercise routines.

Following three to four demonstrations of each motion, the following move is explained.

So far, I’ve only completed intermediate classes; hence, I can’t comment on whether beginner lessons are similar in this regard.

“Make sure you keep your powerhouse tight,” or “maintain your legs straight,” is something I’m used to hearing from a video as I’m doing the routines.

Depending on how you want to exercise, this might be a positive or a disadvantage.

This DVD satisfied me since it demonstrated each Pilates technique, allowing me to double-check my understanding of what I had studied from a book before purchasing it.

The following are the reasons why I gave it four stars instead of three: Despite the fact that there is no “one and only” pilates technique, I like Ungaro’s book since her appraisal of intermediate, beginning, and advanced exercises sounded suitable.

2)When you are working out, there is no verbal encouragement to maintain proper posture.

While maintaining a decent GOAL speed is important, the tempo has been accelerated significantly.

Because of this, you may need to start out slowly and gradually increase your pace as your ability grows.

El 1st of February, 2010, was designated as the day of the inauguration of the United States A purchase that has been confirmed It was a good-quality movie in general, however I thought the “weight loss” portion of the title was a little deceptive.

It is a complete waste of time for someone who is serious about losing weight.

The ideal situation for this would be if you want to gently relax and stretch.

However, this video, although containing some good pilates instruction, struck me as a little tedious.

Because of the positive evaluations, I decided to try this DVD.

She had an irritating tone in her voice, which I found a little annoying.

In the event that you are not as flexible as she is, she provided no substitute solutions for the moves.

I’m only unhappy since I had hoped to participate in pilates for the first time.

Only one more DVD will be necessary for me to appreciate it! Someone kindly let me know if they know of a DVD that is a little more positive (and I’m not talking about the Richard Simmons kind of positive!) and offers alternatives to the positions.
