Carrageenan in Our Food – Oh She Glows

You may recall that a number of you wrote on my post, “Replacing Dairy Milk,” saying that you avoid various kinds of non-dairy milk because they contain a chemical known as carrageenan. This was the first time I’d heard of this substance, or at the very least the first time I’d paid attention to what it was doing. I believed it was a safe component, especially considering it is present in certain organic goods, so I went ahead and used it. However, as we all know, just because something is permitted in our meals does not imply that it is inherently beneficial to us.
