After doing this workout only once, I’m giving it a second look. The following is a general exercise breakdown: This 101-minute DVD comprises one 42-minute advanced Pilates matwork routine consisting of 51 exercises, which is divided into two halves. Breathing, ImprintRelease, Hip Release, Spinal Rotation, Hip Rolls, Scapula Isolation, Arm Circles, and Head Nods are all included in the 6-minute warm-up. The workout portion (36 minutes) includes the following exercises: Ab Prep, Breast Stroke Preps 13, Shell Stretch, Hundred, Half Roll Back, Roll Up, One Leg Circle, Spine Twist, Rolling Like a Ball, Single Leg Stretch, Obliques, Slow Double Leg Stretch, Double Leg Stretch, Scissors, Shoulder Bridge, Roll Over, One Leg Kick, Breast Stroke, Saw, Open Leg Rocker, Neck Pull, Obliques Roll Back, Jack Knife When it comes to repetitions, the emphasis is on quality rather than number, with many exercises only getting 3-8 reps, with more in the 3-5 range rather than the 8 range as appropriate.

Specifically, Moira emphasizes that at this level, the motions should flow into one next, with little time spent in the down, set up, or hang between exercises.

Suitable for experienced exercisers who are at least at the intermediate / advanced stage of Pilates training.

For expert exercisers who are new to Pilates and seeking for a challenge, this may seem appealing, but in reality, you would be better served by a hard Pilates routine that does not need understanding of specific exercises until you are actually ready for this one.

  1. I’ve been doing Pilates since the beginning of 2000, with a few little pauses here and there.
  2. Since my favorite Pilates instructor at my gym (who had completed Stott training) no longer teaches Pilates classes at my gym, I’ve resorted to just practicing Pilates at home.
  3. Class: 1 man (a Stott Pilates teacher) demonstrates the routines while Moira instructs live.
  4. In order to properly instruct the motions, Moira will physically correct or assist him.
  5. Music: a weak piece of instrumental music When I was performing the workout, it didn’t register at all.

The camera angles are extremely helpful (with only a few exceptions: at the start of the second leg in the side leg lift series, the foot isn’t shown, and I couldn’t remember whether the foot started pointed or flexed), and they perfectly reinforce Moira’s points (for example, when Moira says to watch that the abdominals don’t push out, the camera focuses on John’s lower abs).

Walking barefoot is the only way to get about here.

Now, I’m well-known around these parts for my like for Stott, but even I can’t excuse having two films with essentially the same routine.

The instructor’s comments are as follows: Moira offers extensive instruction as she usually does, albeit she does not go into as much depth with form and certainly does not cue every exercise, as she balances cuing with offering recommendations for working with clients because this is intended at Stott-trained Pilates teachers.

She seemed to be becoming a little more natural and calm as time goes on, but that might be because I am growing to like her more and more.

She maintains her professional demeanor, but with a tinge of gloom. Moira isn’t bothered with which side you’re working on; she’ll often just instruct you to start on one leg or the other without saying which one.
