They used to come to me virtually every day when they were tiny, complaining of scratches, bites, and bruises that needed to be attended to. Keeping a first-aid kit on hand was something I learned the hard way—at the house, in the vehicle, and in our bags. My first-aid kit, on the other hand, contained more than just bandages, sterile pads, and antiseptic treatments.

Honey

Honey is referred to as “golden medicine” by my children and I because of its golden color, delicious flavor, and potent medical capabilities. HONEY is high in antioxidants as well as antibiotics and anti-inflammatory properties. When used topically, it aids in the healing and regeneration of the skin after cuts and burns. If you have nightly coughing or a strained nervous system, you can take a teaspoon of honey and consume it. I also have a jar of turmeric and honey paste in the kitchen and take a tablespoon three to four times a day for cough and cold relief.

Ginger

My first-aid kit always has crystallized ginger or ginger drops on hand for case someone starts to feel nauseated, carsick, or run down for any reason. Ginger tea is also beneficial. Steep fresh ginger in boiling water for 10–15 minutes, depending on how big the pieces are. Pour it into a glass jar and top it with honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice, then drink it throughout the day. Congestion is avoided during the winter (vata) season and mucus is expelled during the spring (kapha) season by taking this supplement.

The fact that it contains warming and energizing characteristics means that pittatypes should be cautious about how much they consume, especially on hot summer days.

Chamomile

Chamomile has a calming effect on both the body and the psyche. The moderate flavor and calming scent of chamomile tea help to relieve stomachaches, indigestion, insomnia, and stress by relaxing the body and mind. Triphala

CCF

Using a blend of cumin, coriander, and fennel as a digestive aid also works well. Dr. Nita Desai gave CCF tea to me many years ago for digestive problems I was experiencing. Despite the fact that my digestion is considerably better today, I still drink this tea on occasion to relieve bloating, menstrual cramps, and to compensate for overeating. The preparation is straightforward: 12 teaspoons of each spice are added to 4 cups of boiling water. After 5–10 minutes, strain it and keep it warm for the rest of the day.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha, often known as Indian Cherry, is an adaptogen herb that I can’t seem to get enough of. Because of its calming and immune-boosting properties, I take it year-round to help me stay calm and grounded, as well as to help me sleep better.I take one or two 500 milligram capsules in the morning and at bedtime, and I also drink Ashwaghada tea in the evening.I give it to my children during stressful times and during cold and flu season to help them stay calm and grounded. As a result, I disguise the bitter flavor by mixing it into their smoothies, chai, or hot chocolate.
