Throughout her time at Duke, Nathalie had a push-pull relationship with pre-med. She was intrigued to the concepts of helping and healing, but she did not feel ready to make the commitment to medical school. Her path to becoming a certified acupuncturist and herbalist was everything but straight forward on the way there. Looking back, though, it all makes perfect sense. Nathalie is a French Studies student with a minor in Art History who spent a semester studying in Paris. It was at this time that she found her love of cooking and began to consider the possibilities of combining food and medicine.

One of the most important and defining decisions I’ve ever made was to follow my passion for food, despite my parents’ objections.

In her opinion, her parents were good examples for her, teaching her the value of hard work as well as the significance of treating people with respect.

Upon relocating to New York City, she continued her professional cooking career while also getting certification as a Hatha yoga instructor and completing courses in integrative nutrition and holistic health counseling.
